On 16 May 2024, Jürgen Albersmann, CEO of Contargo GmbH & Co. KG, was elected to the Board of Directors of the International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR). Through this commitment, Albersmann wants to play a role in strengthening the resilience and competitiveness of European CT operators and thus enable combined transport to drive the transition in the transport sector.
“Contargo is now a CT company at the heart of Europe, with over 90 per cent cross-border traffic,” says Jürgen Albersmann. “The positioning of combined transport in Europe as a climate-friendly mode of transport and a response to bottlenecks in transport infrastructure is a decisive factor for the development of our company. Uniform and long-term legislative initiatives and programmes within the European member states would be key to the further expansion of combined transport capacities.”
Founded in 1970, the International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport (UIRR) represents the interests of European road-rail combined transport and transhipment terminal operators. It currently has over 50 members representing more than 150 CT transhipment terminals and corresponding rail and inland-waterway transport services.
