High Water Update, 7 June

The High Water on the Rhine has subsided. On Thursday evening on the Upper Rhine the level at the Maxau Gauge fell below High Water Mark II (7.50 m), the level relevant for shipping. However, it is expected to rise above the Mark II level again in the coming week.

Present forecasts predict more rainfall for the Alpine region and the southern half of Baden-Württemberg this weekend. As a result, levels at Maxau are expected to rise again above High Water Mark II in the coming week.

Now that the lock at Kostheim has been opened to shipping from 11.30 today, there are no more restrictions or closures on the Rhiner or the Main.
