The specialist journal DVZ has presented Contargo’s Head of Sustainable Solutions with a LEO Award in the Managers category. In the laudatory speech she was praised for motivating people to act sustainably, bringing in the right players and thus initiating a transformation towards low-emission transports.
On 13 September, the presentation ceremony for this year’s Leo Awards by the Deutsche Verkehrszeitung (DVZ) took place in Hamburg. The award honours people who have made an outstanding personal contribution to logistics. This year it went to four prizewinners, including Kristin Kahl of Contargo.
The award was based on her activities as Head of Sustainable Solutions at Contargo GmbH & Co. KG. “Managing sustainability in an enterprise involves a great deal of hard work,” said the DVZ, describing their reason for making the award, “it is not only about new technologies, but most importantly about making people aware, informing and activating them. At least one person is needed who is able to steer others in that direction. Kristin Kahl, Head of Sustainable Solutions at container logistics enterprise Contargo, is an example of someone with this ability – and what an example!”
Kristin Kahl has occupied various positions at Contargo over the last 15 years. As early as 2011 she established a sustainability department in the enterprise. The first Sustainability Report appeared in 2014. In 2019 Contargo operated the first e-truck. Because sustainability can only be achieved as a joint effort, Kristin Kahl also represents the case for more sustainability in road transport at EU level, as Spokesperson for the European Clean Trucking Alliance (ECTA).
