On the railroad between the Netherlands and Germany, the container trains, which link Rotterdam to Duisburg and vice versa, will be redirected via Venlo. This deviation engender extra costs that we are obliged to charge in addition.
This surcharge, named RDS (Rail Deviation Surcharge) represents an amount of € 11,00 per TEU.
RDS been implemented by the rail carrier in 2023 and covers detour costs, required due to various construction works along the route from the Netherlands to Germany.
Due to the complete closure of train border crossing at Emmerich, a detour via Venlo route sadly is forecasted to be the new normal in 2025. As a result, pending further notice, the RDS will be applicable for the entire year of 2025.
