Stricter registration procedures in Rotterdam

Following a recent inspection by Dutch Customs, APMT MVII has informed shipping line Maersk of a stricter enforcement of the FOP (= FIAT Opslag) procedure. In future if the registration of containers is late or incomplete, the containers can not be accepted at seaport terminals.

The terminal will no longer accept export units without full customer documentation, unless the booking is verified as a part load booking. In this case, the shipper can only upload the export document to Portbase after the last container has been loaded. This stricter enforcement of the FOP procedure requires the following: a) MVII receives an e-mail confirmation of which goods are loaded in the containers, and b) the shipper manages a pre-loaded export document for the total number of containers via the "Export Documentation Announcement" function in Portbase.

In short, this means that if our customers do not register their containers in time, they will not be accepted by the seaport terminals.

At ECT/EMX it remains generally possible to unload units in the PortShuttle storage facility, however additional registration of customs documents is required.

For the RSC terminal, the procedure does not change. Containers can be unloaded at RSC without the need to register any customs documentation.
